There is a brand called MUA or MakeUp Academy which has been sold in Superdrug for a while which to be honest I have ignored. What came to my knowledge this week was that they have some pretty colours AND they are only £1! With this knowledge in hand I set off to superdrug and picked up five MUA polishes. Over the next few days I will aim to show you some swatches of what the colours look like and of course some nail art.
The first polish I was really excited to buy and try was called Shade 5 which is a bit like the Essie colour called Turquoise and Caicos. I don’t own any Essie polishes. At £8 each I don’t know if I can justify the cost as I want about twenty of their shades but I know I already have about fourteen of those shades but just by a different cosmetics brand.
The key to getting the colour to be like the bottle is to paint very thin coats and allow them to dry inbetween. My nails here took three-four coats. From what I have read in reviews of the Essie polish, this is exactly the same with that polish too so this did not put me off. I like to think of this polish as a Lego polish. By that I mean you have to build it up patiently and by the end you will be rewarded with something immense. I think this polish is immense!
I used two of my nail stripers by Nubar. I haven’t done nail striping in months and months. I used a black one on one nail and a glittery teal on the others. After it dried a little the teal didn’t stand out as much as I wanted to I added my white nail striper to the design too.
Base Colour: MUA Shade 5
Nail Art: Nubar Glittery Teal, Nubar Black, Nubar White stripers

Love these! I own this nail varnish too and I agree it’s a great colour and it works great with this design! x
I’ve only just discovered MUA and I am so happy I have. I bought five polishes when I went to superdrug, can’t wait to try the other shades
Gorgeous! I love that shade and your nail art looks great
Thank you! Such a bargain at £1 too!
